Asunción,  nov 23 (PL) About 17 Cuban doctors that offered their services like part of the Operation Milagro in the  distrital hospital María Auxiliadora, Itapúa, Paraguay,  received the recognition of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Well-being. 

The brigade of solidarity, composed by five doctors, assistants of health and technicians in laboratory and electromedicine,  offered their services for two years to patient residents in that southern department and in other regions of the country. 

The Caribbean specialists arrived to this South American nation for the first time in 2007 thanks to a cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Public Health and Social Well-being of Paraguay (MSPYBS) and their homologous of Cuba. 

Rosana Díaz, representative of International Relationships of the MSPYBS, thanked on behalf of the Paraguayan authorities the Cuban medical personnel that work in which the last three years assisted around 65 thousand in  patient in consultations and in investigations for the whole nation. 

Of the total of Paraguayans assisted around 10 thousand  were operated mainly of waterfalls, pterigium and other oftalmologic pathologies ,  said to Latin Press Norberto Ramos, boss of the medical brigade. 

The Cuban ambassador in Asunción, Rolando Gómez, highlighted the self-denial and dedication of the physicians and Cuban specialists, coming from six counties of the island, in his contribution to the program of the Operation Milagro. 

This is sample of the solidarity of Cuba in the field of the medicine, in front of prevent blindness  and other  oftalmologic illnesses that takes the Cuban Revolution ahead with a minimum of resources, highlighted. 

It is a small and humble expression of solidarity of the Cuban town with our Latin American and Caribbean siblings,  underlined. 

Gómez eulogized the "great impact" of this program, mainly in the beneficiaries, and the respect, admiration and affection reached by the professionals of the bigger than the Antilles for the deployed work.
