HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 3- The 40th anniversary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro’s visit to Chile will be celebrated by friends of Cuba in that nation, coinciding with the National Meeting of the Chilean Solidarity-with-Cuba Movement on November 18 and 19.
The meeting will be held at the combative mining city of Lota, visited by the leader of the Cuban Revolution 40 years ago,” reads a communique by the José Marti Cultural Association of Concepcion, one of the groups organizing the forum.
During a visit to the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, Ignacio Flores, head of the Movement’s Brigades Commission, underlined that the Fidel’s 20-day tour of Chile will be recalled -a country where he arrived on November 10, 1971, to meet with President Salvador Allende and his people.
During his extensive tour of Chile, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro delivered numerous speeches, and during an emotional meeting in Lota, Concepcion, on November 18, 1971, he expressed his joy for meeting with miners, as well as his solidarity and gratitude for their demonstrations of support for the Revolution on the occasion of the Bay of Pigs mercenary invasion on April, 1961.
