HAVANA, Cuba, May 22. Photographers, divers and models from 8 nations are taking part of the Fotosub 2012 International Sub Aquatic Photography Contest underway through May 24 at the Cuban resort of Cayo Largo, announced the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR).
President of the Marlin Marinas and Nautical Enterprises Group, Francisco Sanchez, decalred inaugurated the contest at the Playa Blanca Hotel, where 30 photographers from Italy, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Russia, Chile, Canada and Cuba.
This time, the event was moved from its traditional venue in Punta Frances, in the neighborhood of the Colony Hotel in the Cuban Isle of Youth.
The MINTUR released a communiqué explaining that Cayo Largo has exceptional characteristics for this kind of contests, and has a better infrastructure. Also, it will host the XIV World Championship of the World Confederation of Underwater Activities (CMAS) in 2013. CMAS members are supervising the preparations for the World Championship, added the release. It also notes that there is a jury at the Photosub 2012 made up of 5 renowned experts in this field and in the world of diving, who are from Spain, Germany, Italy and the host nation.
