HAVANA, May 19. I believe that although Cuban society is not perfect, it has a group of interesting ideas to shape a system fairer than capitalism, asserted journalist and writer Garry Leech on Friday in this capital.
The author of several books, Leech presented in Havana his new volume, entitled “Capitalism, a structural genocide.” In exclusive statements to ACN, the reporter and professor of Political Sciences at the University of Cape Breton, Canada, confessed that, by way of the text, he expects to increase Cubans’ understanding about the serious problems of the capitalist system and its influence on the situation in the world today. In the text, Cuba and Venezuela appear as examples that something new can emerge, as a way for readers to be aware that there’s still hope, said the writer during the presentation, carried out at the Juan Marinello Cultural Research Institute.
A US journalist born in Great Britain, Garry Leech is the editor of the Web site Beyond Capital, which offers critical analyses of global capitalism and favors the search for possibilities to establish more democratic, egalitarian and sustainable alternatives. He’s also the author of over 350 articles on the US intervention in Colombia under the pretext of a struggle against drugs and terrorism.
