Cuban Central Province to Host Int’l Video Art Festival PDF Print E-mail

CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Nov 22 The central province of Camaguey will host the Fourth International Video Art Festival (FIVAC), from November 25 through 29, with the attendance of representatives from almost 30 nations.

The program of the event includes lectures by presidents of similar festivals such as Wilfried Agricola de Cologne, in Germany; Roland Wegerer, in Austria; and Joan Raven Estelle, in Spain.

Participants will talk about video creation, new practices and technologies for arts, and current trends of contemporary international video creation, with screening spaces at the San Juan de Dios Square, the
Nuevo Mundo hall, and the Alejo Carpentier Gallery.

FIVAC will also host an international exhibit of materials that are not competing in this event.

In the previous festival, Canadian Patrick Bergeron won the first award with his piece “Looploop”, where he showed the relation of a city environment in Viet Nam with its inhabitants nowadays.

As of this year, the International Video Art Festival of Camaguey will take place every two years and not annually, as it has been in the past.(acn)
