HAVANA, Cuba, June 1.—Australians are enjoying a representative sample of Cuban arts these days, which includes paintings, music and documentary films in what considered an initiative of social and international cooperation.

The artistic exhibit, running from May 25 to June 8, reveals how much Cuban culture has developed over the past fifty years,  and it includes a gallery with 29 canvases and engravings by renowned Cuban artists, Prensa Latina news agency reported from the capital Sydney.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibit, Cuban ambassador to Australia Pedro Monzon addressed the island’s international cooperation with other nations in the fields of healthcare, education, disaster prevention and other areas.

The inaugural gala, held at the International Soka Gakkai  Hall, was attended by government officials from the state of New South Wales, union leaders and members of the local friendship-with-Cuba association.
